Hello World !
The rains have been severe on the Konkan belt
of India for the last 3 days. Bombay the business center
of India is severely affected - with all things coming to
a grinding halt. There is flooding all over the city.
This Tuesday Bombay received the highest rainfall
ever fallen in the whole of India.
Most people were stranded in their offices or roads
in buses, cars or trains as all roads and rail tracks
and airport were flooded. Only now rains have receded
and people have reached their homes.
With more rains expected people have been advised to
stay back at home. The fur yof nature can be devastating indeed.

Drunken Driving

Hello world !!!
Tuesday blues.
Feeling sleepy today.
Guess its the hangover from y'day's drinking.
Dont remember what time I slept off
or what I ate y'day night. Met a friend after a long time
and we went on a drinking binge.
Cheers.

Here's a joke to lighten things up ->
Staking out a notoriously rowdy bar for possible Drunken Driving violators,
a cop watched from his squad car as a fellow stumbled out the door,
tripped on the curb and tried 45 cars before opening
the door to his own and falling asleep on the front seat.
One by one, the drivers of the other cars drove off.
Finally, the sleeper woke up, started his car and began to leave.
The cop pulled him over and administered a Breathalyzer test.
When the results showed a 0.0 blood-alcohol level,
the puzzled policeman asked him how that was possible.
"Easy," was the reply. "Tonight was my turn to be the decoy

Poms

Hello world !!!
As I had predicted in my previous post -
the Aussies walloped the Poms by over 200 runs
in the First Ashes Test at Lords.
So much hype about an upset by England went down the wire.
You simply cant deny the resilience of this Aussie side.
All talk about the players being over the hill proved false
as Glen McGarth and Warne both in their mid 30's
went through the English batting line-up in both the innings.
Hope the next match England can put a fight and I think they
will coz their bowling does look sharp but batting is brittle.
Finally I moved into a new house.
Next step is to buy the things for the house.
TV - Fridge - furniture - lots of expenditure.
Awesome task - went to the market y'day to buy things
and boy things have become so expensive.
Week-end was spent in shifting the house.

Hello world !
Just saw a dream this morning of the sporting days I had as a youngster
and this beautiful Goal came to my mind.
It was in 1993 I think. It was the local Football league
and we were playing our archrivals TFA trailing
1-0 at half time and time was ticking by in the second half
almost drawing to a close. And then our right winger crossed
the ball into the center and the ball ballooned over the defenders
to be head high over our Right winger Imtiyaz fondly called "Mama"
who was also the captain of our team Eleven Star.
What Mama did was unimaginable - he had the back against the wall.
In a moment he launched into a Bicycle kick - one only seen on TV
emulated by many but not perfected by any and he connected the
ball perfectly with his toe to get the ball into the net and GOAL.
Whoa ! The greatest goal I have seen with my own eyes certainly.
I can never forget narrating this goal to anybody interested in football
and its itched in my mind forever. What a goal !
The one closest I have seen on TV is when Marco Van Basten scored something similar
in the European Cup for Holland in his hey days.
Sporting memories are the best memories of my life.
That reminds me the Ashes series gets underway from today
and my prediction is that the Aussies are going to blow away
the Poms in the 1st Test. Lets see.
Week-end is fast approaching !

They say to catch the latest news you have to
visit your barber shop - he will have the juiciest of gossip
of the neighourhood and the world.
You get to hear the most amusing stories here.
I went for a haircut this Sunday and there
was this elderly man next to me chatting with
the old barber about his kid getting admission
in a school and how he had to cough up 2000 bucks as donation.
He said during his time his father did'nt send him to
school because he could'nt afford the fee of Rs.2.50
How times have changed.
Next they started a topic about marriages.
Now people are looking for a bride who is working
so she can support a family. The old man was visibly upset with his trend
saying it is blasphemy to accept money from a would be bride.
But times they change and you have to accept that. What say ?

Hello world !!!
7/7 - The terrorist attack in London's undergound
and bus came as a shock coming as it is after terrorists
attacked the Ayodhya complex three days back.
Terrorism has become common these days and
it pains me that innocent people lose their lives.
These terrorists are brainwashed into this for
an unjustified cause glorified by their perperators.
The way the attack was planned shows how well
advanced and equipped these terrorists are.
They planned the attack on a day when all the security will
be deployed in full force in Scotland for the G8 summit.
I read in the paper that aroud 45 people have lost their lives so far.
Very sad, may their soul rest in peace.

Hello world !!!
The Live8 concert - the biggest concert to be held
was staged across Germany, France, South AFrica, England,
USA, Japan, Canada, Italy and Russia last weekend.
The concert aims to pressurise the G8 summit in Scotland -
to stop poverty and deaths in Africa.
The concert saw some of the most talented musicians across
the globe supporting a good cause. Hats off to them.
Bob Geldof who organised Live Aid around 20 years back
to collect funds for Ethopia was again the mastermind for this one.
Hope G8 leaders get the message and do something about it.
